12volt is too much, i suggest you open up ur carPC and wire up the 5v from your power supply. It will be well worth it

i figured it out and i still have got one response to any of my posts
i might post my findings but i want to see if there is any resposes.
my solution uses other peoples designs but i have made some changes and improved the design so if you want to see ask johhnyrotten@hotmail.com or here

You would make my week if you would post it here. This is the biggest PITA thing I have left to do on my carpc, and your ideas thus far have been really good.

Yeah, I'd really love to see your solution to this one as well. I had a go at building it from the schematic I put together, but it doesnt work... well, half of it works, i.e. the first relay, but the second one doesnt. My electronics knowledge is not sufficent to troubleshoot it.

HERE IS THE CIRCUIT ROUGH BUT YOU WILL GET IT I HOPE THE FIRST RELAY STARTS THE INVERTER FROM THE IGNITION AND THE SECOND ON THE SAME SWITCH STARTS THE INVERTER FROM THE USB OR ANY FIVE VOLT (FIVE VOLT RELAY ) THEN I HAVE A MOMENTARY RELAY (RESISTORCAP RELAY 12V )THAT TURNS ON THE COMPUTER WHEN THE INGNITIN IS TURNED AND THE FOURTH RELAY TURNS THE COMPUTER OFF WHEN IT LOSSES 12 VFROM THE CAR IT SHORTS 4, 8 PIN ON 9 PIN COM SO NOW I CAN SHUT OFF THE CAR AND THE COMPUTER WILL STAY RUNNING DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE RELAY FROM THE USB STAYS ON UNTILL THE COPUTER SHUTS ITSELF OFF ANY PROBLEMS EMAIL ME JOHHNYROTTEN@HOTMAIL.COM PLEASE I WILL HELP YOU FIGURE IT UOT I CAN ALSO SHOW HOW TO DO THE SAME WITHOU A LAPTOP USING A DESK TOP
