What kind of system do you have?Originally Posted by aoLhaTer
Just today installed my carputer
Everything functions normally except that the computer will turn off (go into hibernate actually) after 10-40 seconds (seems random) when I dont have the engine on (only accessory power). Then 2-3 seconds later it comes back on and does the whole thing over again.
When I turn the engine on, the computer stays on like it should
My first guess was that it was the battery; not able to put out enough juice
It's an Interstate
PSU is an Opus 150W
Any help is much appreciated
Belkin 54g PCI
Hmm odd. Mine does the same thing but I think it is becuase I am drawing too much power. You aren't running much that would take a lot of power.Originally Posted by aoLhaTer
Bytheway I hate AOL too. I work for MSN
i have an opus 150w too and it does the same thing. i put tested the voltage on the switched 12v line and when my engine is on it's right around 12 but when the engine is off it fluctuates between 11 and 12. i thought that was why it was doing it. this weekend i'm going to see what happens if i change my grounding location.
I took a meter and tested both the accessory line and battery line
they fluctuated but thats natural
battery was 11.78 with computer off, 11.54 with computer on
i thought maybe the opus was powering down the pc because it thtought the battery was below 11v (has built in protection)
For power (12v batt and ground) I tapped off of the power antenna
For 12v access I ran a 18awg line from my headunit to the trunk (was no access line in the trunk and didnt want to bother hunting for one elsewhere)
i also had some problems with my turn signals where they worked sporadically, sometimes not at all
last two trips theyve worked fine but at first it was iffy
maybe it has something to do with my problem
would it have anything to do with me using 18 gauge cable for 12v batt and ground? (its all i had)
I have the same behaviour along with another problem I posted. I guess I need to check my voltages too.
