    overload?

ok , i got a quick question. I am almost done with my carputer as everything is basically done i just gotta hook it up in the car and hook up electical. That is the problem as i never done any electrical work in a car(no amp, speakers nothing). I am just asking cause i dont want nothing to happen to my Boxster S. I am going to hook up the lilliput 7", laptop with an adapter prob and a valantine 1 radar and i will be using a stock porsche switch that is suppose to be for something else. Wouldnt this suck too much power out of the car while its on or am i just being pairanoid and the car can handle it and put out enuff power to power all that and still not lose any power for say headlights or interior lights?

I have a feeling im going to get bashed for this silly *** question but i dont no any better so i rather get abused.

Depends on what the switch is for, and where you are connecting it. It could very well do some damage if that circut is not designed to take the load. Most the time the only high power circuts in a car that are inside would be the cigarette lighter and the window defroster.

the switch is just a on and off switch that was made for porsche to turn on the footstep lights. I am just using it to power the unit on and off. what kind of possible damage could happen if something was done not correct? im also guessing that if i hook up a tv, a laptop, and a radar to the cigarette lighter that i deff wouldnt be able to use the cigarette lighter for anything else

Well the fuse should protect anything from burning up but you could damage the switch, question is how big is the fuse for this circut? and how much power does the laptop adapter draw amp wise? should say on the unit or the package.
