why a 2.4ghz processor? all you are doing is playing mp3s and avi files geeze.
Hi all
I am slowly being won over by the OPUS 150w, does exactly what it says on the tin, and 150w seems to be a very conservative figure according to threads ive read, which is good for a p4 micro-atx system!
I love the idea of startup and shutdown controllers, but can this be over-ridden, so i can turn computer on with out starting car or even turning key? Can i run a second wire to the ignition sense with a switch to permanent live? Or is there an easier Opus designed way, as there always seems to be!
System will be a Gigabyte microatx with Intel 865G chipset with a P4 2.4 533fsb(did want a hyperthreading 800fsb prescott, but decided this was too much overkill!)CoolerMaster Jet 4 CPU fan and various other fans controlled by a Coolermaster Aerogate II and 512mb ram running XP Pro. 40GB 2.5" HDD, DVD/CDRW Slot load, TV/FM pci card,802.11g wifi pci,Waterproof GPS USB mouse. Lilliput 8" touchscreen, mini trackball(for days when i dont want to touch the screen due to oily and dirty hands!) and a mini keyboard. All mounted in a custom 'altered' aftermarket centre seat cubby box in a Landrover Defender with twin Massey Ferguson 6 series tractor batteries with a Voltage Sensitive Relay, and an Opus 150w!
Well thats the idea anyway! Im a big fan of overkill!
Thanks for any help
James

CarPC status: iPod, 3,456,217 songs so **** you
Im going to be doing more than MP3's, also DVD,TV,FM,GPS,CD burning etc, and i will be going multizone in the future with more lilliputs in the rear, so im going large now, so i dont have to upgrade later
I too would like to know this. I want to know this before I purchase an Opus. I want to be able to just have it set up like a regular PSU. I want to control all power on and off functions just like any ol' household PC.
use this to control the opus -- three pole switch.
1st leg from switch to ignition lets key start or shut down pc
2nd leg to 12 volt so you can turn on any time
3rd leg not conected so you can turn off opus any time key on or off
I did all this with a pII 266Originally Posted by Jimbo1978

The other reason for the high spec, is that the parts are available from a recent upgrade to home pc! Why buy more stuff when it all available to hand!
And like he said, he 's a big fan of overkill, let him prove it allright![]()
Can you make the pic a bit bigger? I can't see it very wellOriginally Posted by lawrence
