i want to temporarily use my sony laptop until i build a dedicated carpc, and its power button is where the keyboard is (not accessible with the laptop closed). How can i make it turn on when the power is applied through the DC-IN (when i start the car/ turn on the inverter) ?? is it possible? i really dont want to have to open my trunk every time to start the laptop.
is there any kind of software that can be installed or some settings changed? turning off is a non issue..
TIA,
Lev

maybe over Power on LAN if it got that. but i dont know how to modify a networkkable to give the signal for poweron. What sony you got? im looking forward to get one of this realy realy slim sony notebok to use it as car pc.
Have a search for wake on ring on the serial port. Some PCs have settings in the BIOS to wake on modem ring. Thus a pulse on one of the serial port pins should wake the PC.![]()
