do usb devices really use enough power to drain a battery?
YES, if you don't start your car every day. The motherboard standby takes power too!

I think that there is an option in the bios that disable power to USB.

Build the relay mod. It's not that hard, really.

No need to sell your 150w

That link I gave says how to turn off USB devices when the computer is off. That will save power.

Isn't that setting on by default, in Windows? I don't really buy it, but I'm not sure why I'm skeptical

Get out your meter and take some measurements before and after; then post back your results. The M10k with no USB devices attached will burn about 86mA (measured at the Opus 12V input) when off.

IIRC, this was discussed before and there is not a known BIOS patch to disable the power consumption of the mainboard. Depending on your setup, the info in the MS link may make your situation better but it probably will not solve the problem. Ultimately, it depends on what your power consumption goals are.

You're right. It won't completely solve the problem, but it will reduce the power consumption. I'm gonna guess that there is going to be a hack for the 150w opus
