How to hook up the Opus to the battery ...

I have been searching for this answer for a few days now, and haven't found any reliable information. I have the Opus90W, and want to install it in my car now, I assume I run a wire from the battery directly to the PS? What gauge wire do you recommend (going from the battery to the console in between teh 2 front seats, not trunk)? What kind of fuse should I get, and how to hook it up? How did you connect the wire from the battery to the Opus power supply, did you solder it or create a connector? How do you connect the wire to the huge battery terminals? Can I connect the Xenarc 7" TSV monitor to this PS or would it be too big of a load? Thanks guys!

Is this covered by the dirctions in the OPUS box?
Have you installed an amp in a car... it would be the same wire set up.

It is basically the exact same way you would install an amp. Get a amp installation kit rated for the correct wattage. Over-estimate to leave overhead (wattage) for possible upgrade or other things you might add in the future. The kit should include all the wires, fuses, and connectors you'll need.

Do a search on google for "installing a amplifier" or something of the like.

I have never installed an amp before, and no instructions were provided with my opus, it came in a ziplock bag, bought it from mp3car.com.

I know I can google for this, but I posted here as there are many others have the exact same setup and could give me some tips that apply specifically to the opus PS. I will look at the installation kits in my local stores, thanks for the tip.

That was some great information you had to share! Googling on how to install an amp is much EASIER than posting a detailed message on a message board, and wait a few days for an answer. If you don't want to share any installation techniques or tips when it comes to hooking up the Opus, then why waste the board resources and my time? I didn't even realize that it was similar to installing an amp until someone told me in this thread.

I ran 14awg wire from my battery to my 90watt OPUS. It's at about the same location as yours. Unlike what some will say, my wire doesn't even get warm. 14awg copper wire at the length you need will carry 8amps just fine.

Make sure you use a fuse with your wire near the battery. A 15amp fuse should be good.

Don't run your ground to the battery. Connect the ground to a solid piece of metal nice and close to the OPUS.

Thanks, that's exactly the kind of information I am looking for. If I remove the plastic tray from my center console, I have access to the frame, I assume if I sand it well it would do the job when it comes to grounding it ? How did you physically hook up the wire to the battery terminals, or did you use an amp installation kit? Thanks!
