    Outdidya .... Hello,

Brother whine can be a *****... read all six pages. lets see if i can help.!

First dont connect the Laptop use your current system HU & CD and see if there is any whine ..... Specially when you press the car horn ..?

Second Connect "ONLY" the laptop (NO HU NO CD NO SCREEN) and dont wire it to the external sound card and tell me if you have whine through your laptop internal speaker when you pluged in..? again use the horn to test.

    Cheers

yeah , i basically traced it down to the inverter being the problem and causing the whine. then again , it can also be that the wires are all tangled together considering it is a small car and there really is not other place to run wires except from the front thru the car to the passenger side.

What i was thinking was moving the laptop to the front trunk, but then i would need to find a way to make the laptop start on power on. Does anyone know a way i can do this? i looked thru the bios but i guess its not an option on laptops although my computer does have it. Is it possible to update the bios so it can start on auto power on?

    Paymayne ,

Could u possibly explain this to me ? im a lil lost

A one shot relay/timer would do it. Wire it up to your power button on your laptop. Or even the uhh.. ITPS thingy from here. Pretend it's a desktop. As far as the BIOS goes, I don't think you can tell it to power on when power is sent to it, because it's a laptop. Wouldn't be a feature worth implementing I think, having a battery and all.

the shielding of the VGA cable.. its conencted to the outer part of the pins. If you wrap some wire around it and solder it on there ground it i bet it will def help.. i did this and it amazed me how much less whine i had, as well as how dramatic the change of alternator noise into the screen dissappeared.. no more lines

    Arrow Isolating from noise.

    Outdidya:

    Please post your complete setup.

Your problem is on your Hi impedance signal generation/transmission (before or inside your amps).

    Try this:

Take some signal source (CDplayer, walkman, fmradio), POWERED BY BATTERIES, not your car battery, and feed your amps, THRU YOUR ACTUAL SIGNAL CABLES, make stereo tests for each pair of amp inputs.

Is there noise? is only on some channels? Just work with channels having noise.

NO==> your problem is on your signal generation. Try other hardware. Dont have enough info to help you. Dont think this is your case.

YES==>Try connecting the signal source directly to your amps.

Is there noise? NO?==> your cables YES==> your amps.

If the problem are your cables:

Your signal cables are working as an antenna for the noise, and inducing it on your amp inputs.

After checking/changing any loose connection.Try this:

    HEY CHECK FOR LOOSE CONNECTIONS.

1.Not common ground between your amps inputs and output of signal gen device. This is: for 4 channels just run 4 wires (running just the signal), not 8 running the signals and respective grounds.

    Not worked?? Try this:

2.Run twisted pairs for your signals cables: buy some cat5 utp cable (Ethernet networking cable, patch cable)from any store, you have 4 pairs, ready to run 4 signals RUN EACH SIGNAL WITH ITS RESPECTIVE GROUND.

Not worked?? (are you near any radio/tv/telecom station?) Try this:

3.Temporarily try running the signal on tv antenna coaxial cable. EXTREEEM SOLUTION, dont think you need to buy coaxial cable to run your signal but if the problem is inducing noise and the failed the tries before, this should correct it.

If the problem are your amps:

Maybe need repair or change if it is/are new. It shouldnt make noise just for the input. Unplug any input cable, set max volume, you should hear the noise. No? maybe your problem are your cables you forgot some loose connection.

Hope this help men. Post more info. LOT OF INFO.

ok, i cant be bothered to read all six pages, as many have answered most questions lemme tell you, if you have removed the egg and hardwired lilli. whatever u usin, u fried that **** man.. Ciggarette lighter = dirty unregulated power. But if its a lill, then u will only have to replace the lcd screen inside and mayber the circutry for the lcd only , and not the touch controller, cuz thats powered through the usb.
