    What Power (watt) i need for an Inverter

    I'm running a p3 600 mhz . I use it to play mp3 , dvd , mpegs , GPS , ext.program - Haltech Management System . System included Sound Blaster Live 5.1 ( pci card ) , ATI Radeon 32MB Graphic Card with s-video out to monitor , USB mini keypad , USB keyboard ( for Haltech Program ) , USB IR receiver , USB GPS Receiver

    How many watt's inverter do i need In my country , we use 230V AC for our computer .

    I already found a 600watt true sine wave inverter but the price is to expensive . Is 300watt enough for my setup ? Thanks ........

    Just look at your PSU and see what the watt rating on it is, and get an inverter that's higher than that.

    Yes, true sine wave inverters are stupid expensive. Modified sine wave will do you fine.

    300 watt should be fine. I think most of us are going with the 400watt MAX. Both of the ones i bought survive crank with no noise!

    Err . One stupid question . I'm referring the 300watt . Is it 300watt continuos or 300watt surge power ?

    Continuous : 300W
    OR
    Surge Power : 300w

    Continuous = 'RMS'
    Surge = 'Peak'

    Ratings given are usually in RMS.

    Thanks ...

    BTW , i know that almost 40% in this forum ( just a guess ) are using a dc-ac inverter in your car . A mojor step-up from 12v to 110v or 230v in my case running in your car system . Aren't you worry the system might go crazy and electricuted you ( is the spelling right ? ) .

    I talk to my father who is a electrical engineer . He does not like the idea of 230v in the car . it can damage the ECU , or maybe blow up the car !

    I want to get my hand on the opus power supply but the price is too expensive due to money exchange rate .

    Simple answer: No.

    And it's not just a step up to 110V, it's switch to AC. So yeah, if you didn't know what you were doing and had bad wiring you could really mess your car up. I'm not too worried about it "going crazy", though. The wires aren't going to un-solder themselves and touch the chassis. My setup is perhaps "riskier" than most, since I openned up one side of my inverter and the guts and wires are exposed. But they don't touch anything, and I don't expect it to magically fall apart and short.

    8ga will work just fine for a 300W.
