    Opus 150W Power Supply Comparison

I was hoping someone here could give me some guidance. I'm ready to throw out the invertor and need the Opus 150w to power my shuttle PC. I currently have gutted the PC so I am not using the case but am still tempted to buy the shuttle sized PS in the event I ever go back to the case.

Is there any functional difference besides size between the cube 150w PS or the shuttle PS? The cube looks like it may contain a fan?

I still may go the shuttle rout just for size factor but if the cube is better, then I will make it work.

Thanks for any and all help.

    Troy

You can get a Shuttle bracket for the Opus 150, so it will fit right back in the Shuttle case

I'm not sure that I understand your response but I will take it as you are saying "it is what it is".

    Thanks.

I just ordered up the Shuttle one as this site is out of stock of the cube and will be shipping the Shuttle this week. I'm not particularly fond of the price but that's the beauty of good ol supply and demand.

The Opus comes with an optional bracket, so that it can be put into the Shuttle case. The Opus does also contain a fan, it needs it to keep cool

I've not heard of this "cube" thing, but i have an Opus, and i wouldn't swap it for anything!

Thanks for the follow up, this tells me that we are not thinking the same products. Here is a link to the opus page http://opussolutions.com/modules.php...pic_id=7&sid=6

Goto the bottom, the two I am questioning would be the SFX.1215 (cube) or the DCX2.1215.XPC (shuttle).

    Thanks!

Your'e missing what Confused is trying to say...
The power supplies and their functionality are identical.
The one for the Shuttle has an enclosure to fit in a Shuttle XPC case. The standard Opus is the same size as a standard ATX power supply, if I'm not mistaken.
If you're an OEM (doubtful) you can also get the bare Opus with no enclosure. Of course, you could simply get whichever Opus you need and remove any enclosure it comes in, if that tickles your fancy.

Thank you for the clarification. I am left with one last question though. Where is the fan on the shuttle version?

    Thanks,

Look at the photos. There isn't one. You could also contact Opus Solutions. They would likely have more answers for you.
Besides, you can cobble together a cooling fan wherever you need.

There's no fan, just a thermal pad between the PSU and the frame...
I'm not sure it fits the cube though... It's made for the Shuttle cases, but the cube i think is different..
