perhaps if you gps dosent have a signal from a computer for a few hours it decideds to turn itself off because its not residual power
I received my Opus 150 last week and installed it this past weekend. I am extremely happy with it.
Trying to stay ahead of the game I've read many posts about the USB remaining powered after shutdown. After installation and testing I noticed that the light on my USB Rikaline 6010 GPS Receiver remained on after shutdown. This really does not bother me, I know the drain is minimal and if it were to ever drain me completely then the beauty of owning a a car with a manual transmission will come into play.
However, I don't know why but this morning I took a peek at the GPS before starting the truck and noticed that the light on the GPS was off. For the record, the truck started fine.
Is it possible that the lights people are seeing on their USB hubs and my receiver are simply lighting due to residual power? If not, then anyone know why the light turned off on my GPS?
me so confused.......

I have an opus 150w and a USB GPS receiver, the light on the receiver goes oujt as soon as the PC powers down.
Leave your gps plugged into a PC that is on, but don't run any applications that use it. If it turns off after a certain amount of time (with your machine on), you have your answer as Nic mentioned.
Hmm, good stuff. I'd be willing to wager you guys are correct. I'll have to try that and also see how long it takes for the light to go off. I do understand that power to the USB is an ATX specification so the GPS turning itself off when not in use makes alot sense.Originally Posted by chenko
Like I said though, it's not a big deal to me in reference to my system, I'm just a curious person I guess.

its not "residual power"
the opus 150w does supply standy 5v voltage
i had my ops connected to an epia m10000 and it sucked 250mA and drained my battery once after not using the car for a few days
I believe this is pretty much the problem with the Epia boards (M10000)
I didn't have this issue with my shuttle FV25. But now I DO have the M10000 and have to do the "mod".
