Morex 80w PSU, worth it or not

I have been debating PSU's for about 2 weeks now. I bought the Mini-Box 200w, works but not to impressed. First one burnt out in 3 days, the new one not working very stabily.
So now I'm stuck between using the MOREX with a seperate shutdown controller, or flipping out $200.00 for the opus. I would rather try and save some money with the morex, but I am tired of hitting and missing. I want something reliable that will work and work well for a long time.

the carnetix is just a regulator and shutdown controller, I am looking for the full meal deal. Power Supply, Shutdown controller and Regulator. The carnetix is looking pretty good, but I would still need a shutdown controller since it would not work with my computer because I would need a "simulted button push" to start up/shutdown my computer.

Sorry I am abit confused with what you require for your carpc.
Dont you want to start/shut down your CarPC with Ignition? Carnetix will be perfect in that case, with your Morex DC-DC converter.

The Carnetix is a complete voltage regulator and startup/shutdown controller.

It works alongside a Morex, in fact that's what it was designed for. You could even use it alongside your "200W" PSU, which isn't working "stable" because it needs regulated input voltage.

can the carnetix simulate a button push, so that it will operate the shutdown from my power button?

    Thanks, I appreciate the help
But actually it is getting regulated voltage, I am power it off a 12v 5a power brick plugged in to an inverter. I am not blaming the PSU as much anymore, but the shutdown controller I think is my culprite. Anyway, I am re-evaluating the way I want to power my computer. But I need a descent shutdown controller, with the carnetix has. So I think your right this is what I should go with.
But, it is not available as of yet. I did place my order, but I am just waiting now on an order update.
    Thank you for the help

I am using the carnetix with a PW60 (same as Morex 60 supply) it works great. The carnetix has a very good startup/shudown controller.

Yes, however it is not a “metallic” contact as a relay would provide. It is an “open collector” transistor that shorts the ACPI line to ground. This works well on VIA motherboards but has not worked as well on some other boards like the Sumicom. You may want to read through THIS THREAD in our support forum. We discuss the option of adding a small external relay to provide the metallic contact closure required for this mobo.
