Forget doing it manually, just use a separate power controller that sequences power on the inverter, amps, and PC. You can find one on ebay by searching for carputer.

I tried the Opus and couldn't get it to work after 3 days (but I think it's because I've got a PC that is drawing too much power for it to keep up). So I bought an inverter and it worked right out of the box. My next problem is: how do I wire the power switch for the PC to the front console? It's more of an aesthetic question than technical. I know HOW to do it, I was just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat and if so, how did you wire your power switch up? I'm just looking for creative ideas / potential problems to keep an eye out for.

Thanks for the quick replies. Basically, I'm just looking to see if anyone else has done this and how they did it.

2 wires. one momentary switch
Splice the two wires that plug into your power board from your power switch. Run them to a momentary switch. Bingo.
do a search here..i had the same quest..search - wiring inverter
Basically you want 2 different switches. One for the Inverter and the otehr for the mobo power switch.
- The mobo is easy. 2 wire (speaker wire work well) and a momentary switch (NO).
- The inverter is a little harder. You can either control it by a switch directly or thru relay. If you want to switch the power wire (battery), then you must use relay as there are not that many small switch that can handle the load. Or you can just extended the inverter's ON/OFF switch. Inverter wiring has been cover a lot, just

Dont just put a switch in. Run a relay inbetween with a fuse. That is the safest way to do it.
