    Screen Flicker. PLEASE HELP!

I was finishing up my carputer and i noticed that when the computer is plugged into the power inverter, the lcd for my carputer starts flickering. i also noticed that this does nto happen if i plug the pc into a standard wall outlet. Another thing is that it only happens when it is actually plugged in to the inverter, so if i have the inverter on without anything plugged into it and the pc plugged into a wall outlet, the lcd still runs fine. it is only when the pc is actually plugged into the inverter. I have my power and ground coming straight off the battery with a seperate 30amp fuse. The wires (8 gauge) are connected to a cigarette lighter and which is then connected to the inverter. someone please help! BTW, i have a mazda3 if it helps. One of my friends has the same car and had the same lcd but with a different inverter and claims everything works fine. not sure if it is the inverter since i have tried about 4 of them so far. PLEASE HELP!

Is your screen powered directely from your battery or are you giving it power from the inverter ?
Is your inverter grounded to the case of the car ?
Strange things may happen if you have two different grounds i.e one from the car structure and another from the inverter.
Another possible thing is that your screen is starving but if you tried few inverters then search with the groundings which may conflicting.

well to answer your question, my screen is powered from the power cables of my deck that i spliced into. it is a 5.8" clarion. and is grounded to the cd player casing. as for the inverter, it is powered by a set of 8 gauge cables directly fromt he battery with a 30 amp fuse. the + and ground come directly from the battery into the car and that is how i power the inverter. but for testing purposes, i just use alligator clips and connect the inverter directly to the battery + and -

I sometimes have the same problem, I believe to sort this out we'll have to connect it to the ITPS for a regulated supply. I'll try it in a month tho. hehe

power your screen from your computer psu.. i had the problem where horizontal noise lines would crawl down the screen (i think that's what you mean by flickering).

Ah this is not the same between flickering and noise.
If the problem is electrical noise then you have to use filters like coils and / or condensators

    .

Chk the ground, also those screens are power hungry and you really have to have seperate dedicated power lines to the screen with nothing in between.

Someone suggested powering the screen from the PSU thats an excellant idea because that power is actually regulated it will probably solve this problem.

the psu in a computer is not 12v though is it? the screen is a clarion screen that needs 12v power.
