Thread: 700watt inverter won't boot pc.

How are you wiring it to your battery, just with those clamps that come with it? If you wired it yourself did you use a large enough gauge wire? I'm running a 350w "wal-mart" inverter (Vector MAXX or whatever) that I got off e-bay for $25 from my battery w/ 10 gauge wire and have my PC and lilliput running off it just fine. Also, my PC has a few laptop parts, but for the most part it's an ATX with a regular PSU, blah blah blah.

Try plugging into the inverter something else, like a home stereo. How many watts are pulling from the inverter with the PC?

well, just using the clamps that came with the inverter... shouldn't that work?

Yeah, it's probably not actually pulling 350watts anyway, but that's strange...hmmmm, I'm not trying to be rude or anything, just trying to start simple, but have you got the clamps on there nice and tight and the little eyelet on the inverter side nice and tight too?

yes, like i said i can run my lilliput screen just fine on it.
this is my 2nd inverter i have tried, the first one i tried was still a Vector but was a 350watt i think. And i had the same results too.

Wow, the other inverter didn't work either? If that's the case then I'd try plugging in some other things that use a lot of juice to see if maybe it is the PC afterall, though I don't see how, there are always weird cases.

well, not sure if this matters or not, but on the back of the PC power supply, It's got the switch for 115v and the inverter says 110v. Although i see people using the same inverter all the time with no problems, and I think all power supplies are rated at 115v.

Yeah, I think that red tab deal is just for switching between the American voltage and the European or where ever else they use 220v.
