    UPS, for tank unit?

Hey, sorry if this has already been asked, but I couldn't find a clear cut answer anywhere, just people mentioning it. Can a ups, such as this one be used as a tank unit for cranking car? It is cheap and easy...

Most of them wont charge from a inverter run off of your battery.

I concur, unless you are going to get a quality true sine wave inverter. (A UPS should work from one of those.) It's just better to go with a tank circuit. I have heard one of these carpc stores will be offereing one with zero voltage drop in the coming 3 or 4 months. Of course that is just a rumor for now...

That's all I know about it. The designer of it is an electronic engineer and is the same guy I bought my power controller from. His website is www dot the carpc store dot com (remove spaces and "dot"=".") He also is working with mp3car.com to offer his products here, so when it is available, maybe it will be offered here.

Just wondering if its all solid state or using a relay like the idea I posted years ago...dunno how well that will work as I never got around to build it. There is a dedicated chip that can supply from 2 batteries without any drops...I may look into it someday.

Cool...gonna have to wait and see what they got.

I just checked out that website www.thecarpcstore.com or whatever it was and there prices seem pretty high. They list a Coleman 400 Watt power inverter on there for $49.99 and that is the exact one i am running in my car and got from Costco for $24.99.
