    Ferrite core use

I bought a 1/2 in bore, snap ferrite core , I was woundering how to use this with my power bus line that comes from the battery to reduce interference. Do i loop it through twice or just have it go straight through (do both the pos and neg need to go theough), furthermore will it actually do anything?

    Thanks!

IMHO/IIRC the cores are for data cables.. not power.. wrap the data cable at a point near the PC Where the signal needs to be clean.

as for double looping... give each a try and let us know if the difference is perceptible.

Put both leads through and wrap them around the core once or twice.
It probably won't help you very much if you're putting it on the power supply wires.
These cores are more useful on the signal-carrying lines like VGA cables (which usually have their own built in) or audio cables (which don't), and you want to put them on the input line to the amp/HU as close as you possibly can to the amp/HU.
    [sound source]--------------[ferrite core]-[amp]-------[speakers]
The reasoning is that the wire to the amp picks up noise and the amp.... well it amplifies the noise which you can then hear on the speakers.
Old plans out the window because of an accident .
