    Computer wont turn off

So i installed my new opus 150w the other day and since then i have been experiencing an intermitant problem, when the computer powers down it dosent always turn off, half the time it does, but half the time fans, screen etc. pretty much everything will stay on, it reminds me of the old "it is now safe to turn off your computer" screen, except that the screen is blank.

I never had a problem like this with other power supplies, but then i havent used it for a while so it could be a problem with the computer. Anyone experience something like this? or know how to fix it?

Nic, if you goto start -> shutdown, does this behavior occur then too?

I would try several things: make sure the connector is on good, and try another power supply (even a standard 120v atx).

IMHO it's one of two problems:
    1) OPUS is hanging, and not shutting down completly
    2) The pc is hanging and not telling the power supply to turn off

I noticed that my little USB keyboard, which is usually thrown underneath one of the front seats has its keys pressed when the engine is off, or while shutting down, the computer will start up or stay on. Maybe youre getting some kind of "wake up" signal that keeps your motherboard active. Might help to check Bios for this and other Power Management issues.

My 9-month old 150W Opus has starting doing the same thing. I can't trace it to anything other than the Opus itself. It's gotta be an internal component that's either shot or on the way out. Usually with IC's it either works or doesn't. I never had so many problems with a psu before. I had a Keypower psu that was twice the price of the Opus, yet it never gave me any problems until it outright died after 3 years of in-car use. I may look into another Keypower or other brand in the future.

Pretty much any device either works or it doesn't.

I hope you dont think you discovered something new.

    Yes

I wish i knew if it was 1 or 2, so far ive had a similar psu to the keypower (i dunno why i didnt keep it it worked better to the opus' ive had) then two 90w opus' where they have advised me to upgrade to the 150w model after both stopped working, apparently i may be drawing too much on one of the 90w's rails aven though my system was using significantly less than 90w, and now i'm onto the opus 150, so i will be pretty ****ty (to say the least) if this is an opus problem again

Yeah, I'm mistaken. When I bought the 250W Keypower years ago it was something like around $180. It's still a lotta $ but when you figure the 150W Opus is what.. $150? I think I'm going to store the Opus for parts scavenging and pick up another Keypower. After all this time of using the Opus I think I only utilized its power delay or shutdown features 5 times. The Keypower you have to manually shutdown Windows. BTW, the Keypower can be purchased directly from Keypower. I believe they have offices in California and central New Jersey. I just drove over to their South Plainfield site here in NJ and bought it. www.keypower.com
