    usb hub power problem

I decided to get a usb hub to solve the problem of usb always having power with my opus 150w. I hooked up the hub and cut the red wire in the usb input to prevent the computer from powering the devices and now the computer does not see any of the devices. (yes the hub has power from an inverter)

also, I think I will move the hubs power from the inverter to the opus' 5v line if it will work....

Also do you think it might work out if I connect the hub, my external dvd drive and a wireless mouse charger? they all run on about 5v i think...

Does the hub light up or anything, are you sure it is getting power from the inverter, try testing that. Also is it possible you could have cut the wrong wire? Give us some more details and myabe someone can help you a bit more.
