I have stored my car for the winter so I have my carputer back at my place. I want to be able to hook up the carputer inside so I can set everything up the way I like it for the spring.
I tried connecting my opus 90w to a power inverter which gave out 12v and 2.0 amps. Obviously that wasn't enough amps. How many amps would I need from an inverter for this to work? Or, how do you guys connect your carputer outsde of your car?
I have:
m10000
40gb laptop drive
512mb ram
opus 90w
audigy 2 zs (on a riser card)
Thanks,
Joe

You need to find a 13.8v power supply that gives at least 5-7 amps continuous from an electrinics shop.
Thats what I use indoors, aand I find my setup draws about 5 amps to start and then settles down at 3-4 amps depending on what its doing..

....Yes, I know it has a stupid name, those crazy Japanese!
90/12V = 7.5Amps. So I would get a a powersupply that supplies anywhere between 12-14V to the opus at 10 amps. Ofcourse, thats assuming your maxing out the Opus.
Radioshack has exactly what you want for about $40.
thanks guys![]()

I found a power supply that was for an old pair of my multimedia speakers. It has an output of 12vac and 3000mA. I'm not familiar with mA. Will this work or would it be too much/too little power? If it the right amount of power, I would just cut off the end and splice it into the opus 90w.
