PW-70 won't boot up with Carnetix

Ok, I'm in my final stage, just turning it on and closing the box. What I don't understand, is that the PSU (pw-70) won't budge. I've tracked my circuitry well. It seems my Carnetix regulator is running fine, sending the pulse to the motherboard, etc. the LED diagnostic lights on the Carnetix say everything should be running. Nothing else moves. The mobo stays silent, not even the fan goes on. every wire seems to be in the right place. I'm wondering if the power on switch on the pw-70 (its there) needs to be connected to the carnetix, or should the carnetix remain connected to the the mobo. or they should connect to each other....

let me know guys...its 2030, and i need my car back tomorrow morning!

I can't find anything in the PW70 manual that talks about a power switch. However, they do mention a

Remote ON/OFF control, Logic level is LOW - Output voltage is enabled.

. I'm not familiar with this but you may want to ground this wire.

Do you have a way of measuring the +12V output from the P1260? Just want to make sure it's really working properly.

the multimeter i used for this project was a friends...so i dont have it (mine is broken for some reason)... i do know that the audio Delay signal works perfectly. this is the only thing that doesnt work...it happens to be the somewhat important part too.

I would suggest you find/borrow/buy a cheap multimeter. You will end up needing very often in this hobby. It will end up saving you lots of time.

When you get one, check the +12V output voltage of the 1260 and make sure something isn't blown. Another quick test you could do in the mean time is to plug in a USB device that has a LED on it to your mobo. If the LED on the USB device lights up, then your PSU is putting out +5VSB, which means the P1260 and at least part of your PW70 is working.

my ipac doesnt light up, and thats the only USB device im using. everything past the carnetix is just cold...

ok!

the carnetix is pushing out a perfect 12.2volts

after that there is nothing. the ACPI (or whatever) is plugged in to the right terminals. i don't understand why its not working.

Are you sure the ACPI power switch connector is connected properly between the Carnetix and the mobo. Try disconnecting the ACPI power wire from the Carnetix to the mobo and connect the ACPI wire that connects to the switch on the case. Then turn on the ignition, wait about 5 seconds for hte Carnetix to turn on the 12V supply and press the power button on the case. If the PC turns on then you know there is an issue with the ACPI signal.

Ok...help me out here... you are measuring +12.2V at the output of the P1260 with your meter...?? Sounds like an ACPI (PWRON) problem.

Are you sure you have the ACPI (green/black) wires on the right pins? Have you tried reversing them? After the P1260 comes on, try starting your CarPC with the front panel switch of the CarPC....if you still have it connected. If you have disconnected it, try shorting the two ACPI pins on your mobo together while your P1260 is running (with +12V coming out of it). If this works, then your ACPI cable is probably bad.

Le me know what you find....

ah hah

the ACPI wires were on the wrong pins.

i feel idiotic.....but they were on 6 and 8 like your site said...i then came to the realization that no Mobo is created equal, opened up my manual, and fixed said problem.

thanks guys
now, i just have to get my Ipac and that damn psone screen to work.
