    shut down controllers

I am a newb to this carputer stuff but not to computer hardware. I just got epia-800 mainboard w/ 256meg and a 20 gig hard drive. I am now in the market for a PSU and shutdown controller. Can someone recommend a good PSU and shut down controller as well as a place where i can get one. i have a regular ac atx powersupply that ill probably use to set everythign up but i would like to switch over to a hardwired 12 volt controlled psu.

if it helps i plan on running what i mentioned above with a gps unit and eiter usb or ide dvd drive.

    -thanks in advance

Car Power Sequencer and Dropout Regulator and PW-120-M Mini-ITX DC-DC power board 200 Watt works fine for my money,, i dont really use mine when its turned off anyways. Both of these shutdown controllers are very nice. I have only tried the second one, but I just order the first one and I am pretty hopefull.

    2nd one
As far as PSU's go, I had the same one as PacMayne and had no problems either very nice PSU and only about $50.00
You can still have something if you have nothing

I purchased the second one recently. I picked up the CarPC EZ version (as opposed to the Pro version which has temp. sensing that I didn't need). I have'nt gotten around to installing it yet, but the device looks very professionally made and comes with all the requisite wiring, parts and step-by-step trifold installation manual.

There are going to be new versions of the CarPC controllers coming out very soon so check the 2nd link provided in the post above for further details.

I have the Car Power Sequencer and Dropout Regulator. What's the difference between it and the other two you mentioned HummDinger? I bought the Car Power Sequencer and Dropout Regulator back about a year and a half ago (when it was the ONLY one of it's kind to the best of my knowledge).

I am now redoing the entire system and the CarPC so that I can get back into competing in Sound Quality with USACi. The last time I did it with the carPC the hardware just wasn't designed to work in such a demanding environment, now that I want to redo it all I'm seeing that many more companies have come out with car specific hardware, which is just awesome!

Wondering what the advantages are (if there are any) to the two you listed over the Car Power Sequencer and Dropout Regulator?

Yes, look at the store. There are links to the specs online.

It doesn't come with the wiring but it is all very common stuff and easy to hook up.

Keep checking mp3car.com for the CarPC EZ Power Controller and the CarPC Pro Power Controller too; they should have them soon. As hd54321 said, you receive cables, connectors, and a detailed installation manual. You also receive phone support and a warranty.
