System Build Questions Power,USB,Etc.
Hey Guys, hang in there for this one.
Ok so I’m in the process of choosing a system to put in my car, now I figured I can use a mini ATX board since I have the room in my truck and im looking at Lilliput 7” Touchscreen (Any one have problems with this screen?).
Now what I want to do is to rip the head unit out of my truck and just use the carputer for radio, cd along with the GPS and DVD playback. With that said heres the chalenge
I was wondering if anyone has done that, I know I would have to amp the line out of the computer to the speakers, and for the sub, but I read somewhere that this would not work and that you would have to amplify the source for the amp to read it. Has anyone herd of this?
Also do you think this Is a good idea to remove the head unit completely?
Any comments are good.
Also since I will be using a ATX motherboard not the ITX, I will need some more power than the normal dc-to-dc power inverter. Does anyone know of any websites that have guides to building a PS capable of doing like 200 – 250 watts? Also I have read that lower voltage has burnt out some peoples power supply for the Lilliput screen, I have also seen some pages about how to make some step up transformers of some kind.
(Anyone who has any input, feel free to post :) )
I have also seen a site where they cut the USB cable and used a relay to power the USB devices to take the strain off the mobo power supply ( Has anyone done this, if so be leave detals)
Well that’s about it for now thanks for reading guys, any input would be helpful.
