Other than that, the electronics junk pile you may have lying around

I should have specified - I was thinking shops rather than Internet as I want to have it tomorrow. I'll give Radio Shack a go - any other suggestions of shops?

274-1565 is the female part. I need the male part but a quick search shows they have many subtly differently sized DC plugs to choose from. But I'm clearly going to have the take the PW200-V with me since I can't measure it accurately enough given the small differences in potential plug sizes.

You want the 2.5mm male plug.

Yep, the 5.5/2.5mm one was the one I needed. It even came in 2-count packs so I may get some of the female sockets and use that to hook in other 12V devices to the output of my regulator.
