Alright at first read I thought you wanted to power your Xenarc from the USB port but after reading your first topic I don't see any problems with your idea....except it seems kind of pointless and unsafe even. Imagine accidently plugging that usb cable into your pc or some other device.....BAM
Why not just run the 2 wires like normal?
did you check to make sure your getting power at the end of the USB cable?

Yes, with a 9V battery, but tried to hook it up to an ATX power supply, and fried my PSU. I think I had something messed up on my mutlimeter end. Hence the reason I am trying to make sure everything is working.
Biggest issue, I don't really feel like frying my $200 Opus

Yes, if I actually plug the USB cable into the USB port on the computer. I have created a PCB with a USB and 3-pin power plug (like the ones used on the motherboard for fans). I plan on taking the 12V and ground from a molex, adding an adapter to connect it to the 3-pin. Then I will mount the PCB in my case, so all you will see is the USB plug (used a different type than standard USB port on motherboard). Kind of like what the pictures are showing.
okay...i see... you should probably use some other type of cable and connector, because USB cables are only made to carry 5V more than that will fry a powersupply or start a fire on the cable itself, i would reccomend going to radioshack or some other electronic suppliers and take wire rated for 12v and create your own connector system, using the connectors they have, then just heat shrink it to look nice. you cannot run 12V through a 5V cable at that many amps... OHMS LAW
V(voltage)= I(current) R(resistance)
5v = 25a (R)
R = 5/25
that gives you a resistance of .2 Ohms
do a simplesearch...
