Question Confused: Why would I care if my Carputer survives the crank?

I really don't see an issue here but It's probably just one those things where I don't have a carputer setup yet so I dont' realize it. Anyway, I've been thinking about buying an inverter but I know the coleman won't always survive the crank. My question is, what situations would this be a problem - just when I have the carputer running with the engine off and decide to start my car? I'm under the impression that I will always have my engine on when I am using the Carputer.

What if you stop for petrol or just for a couple of minutes and you leave the PC running.

It'd be a real PITA if when you started the car again, the PC would have to reboot.

    Here is another :

You stop at a bus stop to try to pick up a hot chick you see, but you are afraid that someone might try to jack your ride. So you turn it off and then like you go up to the chick and then she dises you, beause your ride is just not pimp enough. So you tell her " yeah but I got a car pc" and you convince her to have a close look. She is impressed, so she decides that perhaps she would be better off riding with you. Imagine the embarassment if you crank it ant the PC reboots! all that hard work would probably be in vein, cause your **** ain't tight. I can think of others scenarios, but I hope others will chime in!

yea thats and instead of botting when you turn your key it will restart making you wait even longer before music plays.

Or you are about to go on a road trip your turn it on program it then start your car, it kills the power screwing with your map. remeber its just gona kill your computer its gona be like rebooting when you pull the plug making it a lot slower to start playing music.

    Here's a pretty realistic scenario....
Your carPC doesn't survive crank. You stop to get gas and shut off the engine. CarPC loses power and does a hard shut down.
You start it back up and Windows is hosed and the carPC doesn't boot as a result.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

Yea thats the problem with the inverters it just kils the power it wont wait for it to shut down or hibernate, so the next time you start it its a but PITA.
