you sure one of those 2 fuses located near those battery terminals arent blown?
and my t22 has a regular power button, not one on the keyboard you sure it's only on the keyboard?
So I got my hands on a thinkpad T20 this weekend. When trying to put in a solder into the mother board, i think i fried the MLCC Caps ( multi level ceramic capacitors ). The laptop still boots but won't run off the battery anymore. Pic is attached.
Can anyone tell how how/where i can find replacements for this.
Also, has anyone been able to tap into the power on button in the keyboard to allow the laptop to be turned on with a relay. Its the push kind.

Hmm..i'll look into the fuse near the battery terminal. Are they surface mount fuses....do you have a pic of what they look like.
This is what i meant when i said that the power button in in the keyboard. How did you tap into it?
That's a neat pic, I never knew that the upper row buttons & the mouse were attached to the keyboard.
You could always do the slow & hard route and just trace the button back to the connector jack.
Old plans out the window because of an accident .

Thanks for the fuses...i'll check when i get home.
Bizzarre thing is that i have removed the caps.....and yet the system is running ok. I tested with the multimeter and two of the three caps were allowing current to flow through ( possibly leaking ). As you can tell, i'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch of the imagination.
I've done some more research..and this link provides some useful info. I have to find a dead mobo with those caps. Apparently people just replace them to mod their mobo's.

it could be a problem with the caps, but the fuses are simple to check![]()

What are you guys using for a power adapter. It needs 16v @ around 3.6 to 4.5 Amps.
I had an old 390e in my car first and had a dc adapter for it...unfortunately everytime i use that to power my t20 now, the computer re-boots randomly. I assume that its a power issue, since it works fine at home.
