Arghhh, so I keep thinking, maybe get the Carnetix 80watt psu, then I think, well, why not just spend another 50 and get the opus like i should have done in the first place...any opinions?
So my caputer stopped starting after about 7 months of running. I ripped my dash apart and when I got to the ITPS I saw that the positive power out connector had overheated, big time! The connector was melted to the board. Nothing else seems to have been damaged. Has anyone heard of this? I though it was strange that it would go like this. I got it directly from ituner and I haven't heard anything back from them yet. Too bad I didn't know about this site selling them back then! I really need this thing back up and running before the weekend, so I'm thinking about getting the uSDC20D.
Any recommendations or should I just be patient and wait to hear back from ituner? If it blew once (and I don't have much hooked up to it), should I expect it to happen again? I guess why I like the ITPS over the uSDC20D is that it provides voltage regulation.
In case anyone just wants to skip to the moral, it's this: just get an opus.

Did you have a 5 or 6 amp fuse protecting your board?
Was it installed correctly and in a way that prevented it from grounding out on numerous items in the car??
Yeah, I have a fuse protecting the board and the ground was set up correctly. I wound up going with the carnetix converter. The heros at mp3car are located on the east coast (what a nice surprise) so I should get rid of this "i'm naked and standing in front of a classroom" feeling before a long trip this weekend.
Carnetix should fix it for you. I switched from ITPS to Carnetix and it works awesome.
