Looks like I'm going to buy the smallest UPS that I can find that will survive a 2 second crank. Looks nicer and is a nicer looking solution.
Yeah I know a tank circuit is basically an DC-DC ups solution. Makes sense. The only pre-made tank circuit that I've seen though has to have many inputs and outputs, doesn't look very nice (doesn't come in a box or anything - looks like a big transistor with a huge heatsink mounted on a PCB) and won't accept anything lower than 8 AWG power wire realistically. I also wonder what kind of load a tank circuit could handle?

VIA MII-12000 powered by a PW-200 with ITPS power sequencer
monster 300 watt clean power inverter
crappy pcchips motherboard and p3 600
was using modded sproggy 2.7 with some features from version 3 namely the max1771 chips to give more on the 12v
Now finishing a mk4.1 psu which will replace old psu
b4 that bacj in 1999/2000 used 300watt inverter
although i havent built mine yet, the plan is simply to go with an inverter and a standard PSU. but now that i have finally been able to find the power rating on this thing (PSU says 160W max), i may end up going the 150w opus route if it fits the budget.
