    Optima redtop battery

    Its power related...

I have a chance to pick up a Optima redtop battery model 75/25. Here a link to the specs...
    http://www.optimabatteries.com/publi...cal_specs.html

Its noted as a 'starting' battery, not a deep-cycle battery (just found out the yellow tops are the deep-cycle ones). Would this be beneficial to a under 150W carPC and 500-800W sound system?

FYI, I'm buying a used alternator from a better equiped version of my car. It puts out 90A compared to 80A in the base model.

If I understand you correctly, you just want to know whether it makes sense to put a red top in you car with that stuff in it? Yeah, it does, but you'd be better off with the yellow top. It will be fine when you are running the car, but its not going to last much longer than a standard battery with the ignition off.

Take it from someone who works for a battery distributor, and who charges/checks batteries including optima batteries. Don't use a redtop in your car. We have now refused to sell the red top optimas to car audio shops because of people who are too cheap to buy the yellow top and instead get the red top, and then expect warranty for the battery when it stops working properly. If you will be draining your battery, go deep cycle.

Get both. Ive got a red top starter battery with a fully isolated yellow top for the system. It works great. If your gonna do a carputer, you cant cheap out or you will regret it later when things dont work the way you intended.

Id wait till yer stock battery bit it before you exchange for a redtop, no point if yer batt still works.

True that. Mine was all squished up and laying sideways from the accident. Then sat that way for about a year so I think its save to say that it was toast.

Thanks guys. Stock battery is still going strong. I'll wait until I can buy a yellow top.

Thats ok I play Warcraft 3 since it started like 3 i think years ago and im ranked 65 or so in the 1v1 ranking and yet i still get called a noob even when you win and win very easily and embarassingly for them. I mean i say to em, but you lost to me, who you call a noob, what does that make you?

I think the problem, for WC3 at least, is playing 12yr olds u have to expect immaturity.
