Theres no way an opus 150w can power that. Needs a little work also.

*edit* dont get me wrong the Opus is amazing and I wish theyd have a bigger power supply than the 150w but they dont and maybe I want more power.

i didn't even know intel made a 1.4Ghz P3. i thought they stopped at 1.2 . from what i've read an opus 150 should handle that. p3's arent all that power hungry. if you really think you need more power. there is the keypower 250 watt. DC-DC is the way to go.

My 2 cents: Buy cheap - get cheap.
Computer problems related to power supplies are very difficult to diagnose. The only way to find out the source is by replacing the power supply. One minute it could seem like the ram is bad... Next minute, the cdrom could be acting up...
I've made MANY runs to the store to pick up a cheap supply only to find out the $30 online supply was bad.
That one looks cheap. Pretty colors. Pretty fanguards. It's labeled "Black Chrome" - no *****? So that's what that black color is....

Pay more for a decent supply and you'll save yourself tons of aggrivation in the long run.

Keypower seems like a good way to go - I'm using one on a Celelry 2.66, I don't believe yours uses more juice that that. Although you may be able to get by with a lower-wattage supply... dunno - search.

Dude, good power my ***. Read reviews.

Paraphrasing PatO, you get what you pay for. Power supplies of that wattage can only cost that little if they CANNOT provide that power for real, and you will definitely be getting a hassle when the power supply goes to doggie heaven.

Your calculation of 350W also seems a bit out of thin air. The CPU you want, good graphics card, RAM and a couple HD's will in no way add up to 350W. Even if you use a cigarette lighter at the same time as the computer is on

As far as the computer goes... come back in 4 days and see what the price for that thing is, you might be better off buying a new Dell.

BTW, to give you an idea of what power is needed for a relatively powerful setup, check out Shuttle computers. My roommate has P4 2.53GHz, 512 RAM, 120gig HD, ATI 9600 all-in-wonder, a DVD burner and a few usb devices all running off of the 200W PSU in that computer. A real 580W PSU will feed dual Xeons and cook you breakfast, meaning it would be a waste to have for you.
I have found you an argument; I am not obliged to find you an understanding.
