I'm about to replace the default psu that ships with the morex 3688 case with the M1. I notice the existing power input wiring to the psu also grounds itself to the case. Should I consider doing the same with the M1, maybe just run existing grounded wiring on case to any black line on the M1?

I came up with the same problem when i replaced mine.
I did not connect the grounding of the case directly to the
PSU, this because of the reverse polarity protection of the M1.
The case is grounded via the motherboard, you may run a wire
direct from the black leads to the casing
