No, I believe it's directed at hortimech who said this:

if you connect a second battery with a cable that is not large enough to withstand cranking amps and the main battery is not fully charged, the starter motor will try to draw current from the second battery and the thinner wire will overheat and melt. If you need any advice about fitting a split charging system, go and see your local caravan dealer.
    and this:

What he doesn't seem to realize is that we are not dealing with caravans (where there is nothing switched on when you're driving because there should be no one in it), but with potentially high current drawing audio equipment etc. which will be in use when you're driving.

But now that I am going through all the posts about "tank" I am not so sure. So my question is will it work (the wires on the m102 are a bit thin)? If so this is a very cheap sollution (10$)
It works great. I build it this weekend.

Why are you using an inverter to run a usb hub? I'm running my usb hud off the 5v rail on my mobo. Of course this only works if your usb hub is 5v and not 7.5v!!

    Guys,
Just sorting a dual battery for my setup, could you use to relays instead of diodes? First relay would switch on when the ignition key is switched to first click and the second would disingauge the second battery when starting the engine. this way it would not draw amps from the second (deep cycle) battery. When releasing the key it would go back to the first relay and allow the second battery to draw power.
BUT would this mean the second (start) relay needs to be high current?
    Cheers

I have recently purchased a m102 and wanted some help installing it. I am a little confused as to what I should be connecting to its INPUT, also

Should I be removing the main RED cable coming from the alternator to the battery and connect it to the M102, then back to each battery?

Are you asking if you can replace your car's battery with this one big battery?

Theoretically, yes. The fatter the cable, the better it will work. Wire has resistance that drops the voltage over distance. The thicker the wire, the lower the resistance.

If you are worried about the complications of a two battery setup, just buy a battery isolator. Google it up and you'll find that this is common in a marine setup. You can just buy the solution.

No, it isn't the same as having two physically isolated batteries. The Blue Tops are connected either in series or parallel. Either way, the cells are not isolated electrically. They are isolated physically.
