    Power Connectors For P1900

Ok here's the deal.......I'm gettin a Mac mini and waitng for my p1900 to arrive. I want to follow the instructions the Carnetix has on there website for splicing the mac mini power supply.....BUT.....I also want to use the mini in my house.......so i need some three prong male and femal interconnects. I want to be able to either plug the mac mini into it's included power supply (in my house) or into my Carnetix.........could you guys suggest some three prong connectors that would handle the power and would be very simple to disconnect? Thanks.....I've included a diagram also.

Oh.....and by the way.......can you try and find a connector that is easy to wire? Will I have to worry about that little dinky smart power cord cable thing on the mini? thanks.

    sux,

Here's one suggestion. Use the mating connector on the P1900 so that you can plug your final cable into either the P1900 or the AC brick. Here's a picture of what I did. It's got the +12V screen power cable and ACPI (power button) cable attached also. When not in the car, these are not used.

The connector that goes on the AC brick end is from DigiKey. Part no. WM3603
The male pins for this connector are also from DigiKey. Part number WM1911-ND.

The connector that goes on the Mac power cable and mates with the P1900 J2 connector is DigiKey WM3703.
The female pins for this connector are WM1913.

    Hope this helps!

Get three housings for each of the cables, maybe red/black/white (for power, ground and isense).

Take a look at the Mini power supply in the picture. See the connector on it? It's identical to the connector in the side of the housing on the P1900 in the center of the pic.

The power cable to the Mini plugs into the P1900 when in the car and plugs into the Mini power brick when in the house.

Oh......ok.....I see now......so are there is a lot of extra connectors on the mini power adaptor side because it uses like only 3 of the whatever blanks right?

Correct. The actual cable looks like THIS (the cable on the right hand side of the P1900). Lots of extra stuff that isn't used when indoors.

Ah........but in a sense dont i have to take into my house my usb hub/or monitor whenever i disconnect?

If I wasnt to go this way and was just to split the "Mac DC Power Cable" and the P1900 cables with a connector and then add a connector to the mac mini power supply also, which connectors could I use......lik all in one just plain ol' three prong connector. Thanks.
