    m1-ATX and bios settings

I have the m1-atx settings set to 5 seconds / 2 hours (a jumper on B). When i turn off the ignition, the cpu successfully shuts down. What settings do I have to change in the BIOs menu and in Win XP to have the CPU go into sleep/hibernate mode before fully shutting down? I'm using the a M10000 motherboard. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

I don't think you need to do anything to bios. For XP, do the following:

1- Start - Control panel - Performance and maintenace - Power Options
2- In "Hibernate" tab, make sure "Enable Hibernation" is checked
3- In "Advanced" tab select "Hibernate" from the drop down menue in Power Options.
4- Apply, OK and close the window

    Actually, you do.
There's usually a BIOS setting that indicates what action the PC takes when you press the power button. In this case, you'd want to set it to Hibernate.
That way, when the M1sends the signal to the power switch pins on the motherboard, it will initiate a Hibernation sequence, then power off after X amount of time.

I just went through this the other day. If when you go to control panel/power settings there is not a hibernate tab you need to load the video driver. After you've loaded the driver it should show up. Then you just enable hibernate and there is a pulldown that ask what to do when you hit the power button, select hibernate all under the power settings.

You are correct, but I believe that to be true for non XP machines. My understanding is that XP power management will do that without any changes to bios.

The power button activity has nothing to do with Windows, no matter what version.
Granted, the steps you outlined need to be taken in order for the BIOS setting to function....
If hibernation isn't enabled in Windows, when ACPI sends the signal to Windows it may do nothing or it may do a full shutdown.

I was under impression that XP would override the power management setting in bios. If that is not true then I stand corrected.
