Which power method is the best?

Hi, I have a question about powering the car pc. I'm still in the process of deciding which way to go.

    1) Laptop , so powering would only need a simple 12V adapter
    2) Computer 220volt?

So if I buy a secondhand 1000mhz computer it probably would like to have 220volt. I know there are some converters for that, but how easy is it to go that way and how much would it cost?

Is it also possible to rip out the power supply and put in a 12 volt version? Which one is the best way to go?

It varies, depending on the laptop manufacturer. Typically, they run about US$75-100.
