I've been unable to understand if the opus 150w cuts completely the drain from the 12v when the pc is OFF (like M1 does)
or does it keep the 12v under load? if so how much does it drain? can someone with an opus try to check this with a multimeter?

well.. M1 has two timers, one for shutdown and one for cut power..
I hope the opus cuts the power in some way, for 210€ it HAS to do this

This has been stated here over and over and over again. The Opus 150W ALWAYS powers the +5VSB rail. Depending on your motherboard and peripherals, you could end up drawing upward of 100mA on your supply lines. This WILL drain your battery. There is a simple work around to this problem posted in the forums.

BTW, to be accurate, even though the M1-ATX does allow you to shutdown the +5VSB rail also, it will still consume some power (a few mA at most) though this amount is likely to be substantially less than your car already draws while off.

thinking about the 5vstb problem.. is this 5v signal coming from the PSU to the mainboard or from the mainboard to the cpu (maybe regulated from a 12v in)? I was thinking a simple solution, would be possible to rewire the 5vstb signal to a normal 5v signal coming from the ATX connector? this signal should become off when the pc is OFF and solve the problem, what do you think?

@Cris: It's not he 5V rail, it's the 5VSB (standby) rail. All ATX compliant power supplies do this.
@Frankino: That's also been discussed again and again and again. If you cut the +5VSB rail going into your motherboard, then it will pull PSON low which signal sthe PSU to turn on. The solution is to use a relay to break the 5VSB and PSON signals whenever the PSU and your ignition is off. If you really want to save time, read the thread, implement the solution, be happy.
The Opus 90W and M1 don't have this problem because they can be jumper configured to disable the +5VSB rail. The M1 however has a very minimal 12V rail. I doubt it will be able to power your Athlon XP based system.
In my old car, I ran the battery down once when I didn't drive it for a week or so. I had USB devices (an illuminated keyboard, optical mouse, USB hub, etc.) connected that the OPUS powered 24/7.
I just placed a switch on my dash for the power cable going to my trunk. If I'm going to leave the car for more than a day without running it, I just flip the switch off.

I was using M1 for the system but it died on his own, it was sufficient for my system without dvd-rom and I was thinkint about coupling it with another psu I have, which is capable to output about 5A on the 12v regulated rail, so I was thinking about using it to power 12v devices like cd or fans
but I think I'll go with opus.
and by the way, it's absolutely STUPID that a 200bucks psu is not capable of cut the 5v rail if I want to. I don't bother if it is an ATX specs, I really don't care. I want to cut that damned rail![]()
come on I don't think it would be so difficult to implement YOUR mod in the opus logic.. I sinecely hope that opus solutions will fix this and implement something like the M1 jumper configuration and maybe an amplifier remote signal, programmable too. This PSU deserves it, especially for his price
