    M1-ATX /w SP 13000 mobo

    Hey there,

I've been running my new M1-ATX and Epia SP13000 successfully for a couple of weeks now. I have a question related to current draw...

My M1 currently powers a samsung 80gb 2.5" HD, and the SP 1300 -- I am running my Lilliput and USB hub in the front of the car with two separate regulators.

The Lilliput is using the stock 12V regulator and the USB hub is hooked up to something I picked up off the net. The monitor runs pretty well, I never notice any screen dimming whatsoever, save for when my signal light is on.

The USB hub is giving me problems however. At first I thought it was the USB connection so I changed cables and I still get random disconnects. It's running my Tripnav GPS and Lilliput touchscreen and at times they just stop working. Unplugging and plugging it back in sometimes works however not all the time.

I believe that this is because the 5vd regulator I have cannot provide enough current to the USB hub. So I am considering running a 4 conductor line from my trunk up to the front to power my Lilliput and the USB hub. My question is: will I burn out the M1-ATX?

I've looked on mini-box's site and they don't list the SP13000's current draw. I'm scared that I'll blow something on the M1, and I don't want that!

Again to recap: the M1 will run the SP1300 mobo, samsung 2.5" 80gb drive, USB hub, and the Lilliput 7" monitor.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

I don't think you're going to have problems powering your hub from M1 at all

Why not utilize the other 6 usb header ports instead of stretching one of them with a hub?

I think because the mainboard is in the back of the car and he wants multiple USB headers in front

Yup. And my Ampie doesn't provide extra room for the ports. It's OK though, I have no use for them.
