Hey All, I'm trying to figure out how much power my CarPC should draw in a worst case scenario. Can someone take a look at my numbers and tell me if I'm right?
I've got an M1-ATX driving my setup. I've looked at the Epia web site to check what kind of current draw my board has while playing DVD and used those numbers when figuring out draw. Here's what I've come up with
3.3v: 3.2A draw (motherboard)
5v: 5.0A draw (mobo, usb peripherals, hdd)
12v: 1.2A draw (mobo, fan, lilliput)
This means I'm drawing 10.56w, 25w and 14.4w off each rail respectively, which adds up to 49.96w... 50w basically.
That means I've got substantial headroom on my M1 for more USB peripherals, this makes me happy.
Figuring for the M1's 90% efficiency rate, let's say I'm then drawing about 4.6amps from my car (assuming 12v). More realistically my car's power sits at about 14.4v so I am drawing about 3.8amps.
Does this make sense tech geeks?
Thanks
Mark
