300W tiny PSU final feature requests collecting

Wow some excitement again! Woot!

It's like the motorized LCD screens last year, but now its power supplies. (errr lets hope the quality/workmanship is better on the power supplies

)

Opus 150 goes for 170, so the new one is going to go for.... (guess) 200?
Your average SDC goes for 50+.

So, now we have a 300w DC-DC. How shall we (acting as the entrepreneur producing the sucker) price this thing? The simple fact that it is at least 50w higher than the nearest competitor earns it a good 50 bucks. $250. Now consider that it has an SDC - a very pricy add-on. $300.

I think most newbies would shy away from something that pricy. It's approaching the price of displays!!!!! Keep in mind, considering the options offered, I think Dragon would be a moron not to offer it at this price - if not higher. I simply think his business model is flawed in offering too much for what the average consumer can afford. If he wants to sell Ferraris for the price of a pinto, fine, but he's shooting himself in the foot for doing so.

PLEASE! Prove me wrong. Either in the price, or that people are willing to pay more. Something doesn't add up to me, so I'd like you to straighten me out...

I don't know were the opus is made, but this PSU is going to be made in china. Subtract $50

Also, its not like dragon is going to hire a bunch of people for the support team, so that should subtract even more

Ahh... Okay, so he's going to outsource to China. Like my business is doing (India). Not a good argument - I (and most blue-collar Americans) would be willing to pay more to have it made here. Put an American flag on it and call it "Made in America". Works for me.

Your comment about support staff is a very good point - a lower price would keep those big corporations on their toes! Boris

Well, making it in China isn't really outsourcing. Dragon is Chinese, and lives in China

Well alright then. China's standard of living is lower than the US. They don't need as much to survive on because everyone over there makes so much less than us. And Dragon just wants to fit in - he simply wants to be another Chinese citizen. Gotcha.

It may of already been mentioned / included but I think a remote on for the amp to stop the popping noise is a great idea.

I wouldnt pay a cent more if this was made in the US, or anywhere else... If it is cheaper to make in china, (and with china's infrastructure today) I'd much prefer it to be made there!

Would you pay more for a ferrari if it were "Proudly made in the USA"???

hhahaha... now adays these arguments dont mean much,... China and most of the world is upto par on manufacturing and quality control... not to mention engineering (look Dragon is chinese and he is developing something that no one else has gotten close to!)...

About the pricing, what would you suggest? a noob will shell out 200$ for a pwersupply without SDC, and not $230 or $240 for a psu WITH an above-average SDC? I think yer argument is flawed...

Anyways, dragon will decide what will be taken to market, at what price and when... no use us bickering about it here... I propose we move forward and discuss final feature requests that should be included.

CDR: the remote on for accessories is likely to come as a small expansion board that will not be included/required for the main PSU. this is so they can keep it very small...
