OPUS: how to restart the carpc after manual shutdown?

I know that OPUS will start/shutdown the pc upon getting/lossing ignition power. Question is, if, for some reason I shutdown the pc through the "start" menu while the car is running, I can't start the pc, I have to turn off the car, then restart the car - or at least put the key in the ignetion position.

I know OPUS is doing what it should but how to override this, since OPUS controls the power switch on the mobo.

Why am I asking, if a cop stops me, I would like to turn it off, then after he leavs, I would like to start the PC without restarting the car. It is not that I get stopped often

Only a guess here, but if the OPUS senses current on the ignition feed which acts as the on switch, and the PC will turn on. When the OPUS senses theres no current on that cable, the OPUS will send on Off signal to the PC signalling it to shutdown. In theory, all you would need to do is fit an on/off switch on the ignition feed.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Search the forums. There's a guide to putting in a power switch in addition to the Opus auto-on capability. You're not the only one who has wanted to do this.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

That's why I have it hooked to the remote line of my head unit. Take the front panel off, or turn the head unit off, and the pc turns off.

i put in a on-off-on switch in the dash

position 1. opus works as normal of ignition

position 2. ignition signal cut, so the opus thinks ignition is off (handy for servicing/valet parking/police check)

position 3 opus gets constant 12v so you can switch it on and off without the key in ignition

As above, if you have a valet switch in line with your ignition supply you can just pop that and the pc should restart (providing your ignition is on)

You guys should always do this.
    ACC/IGN ------- ON/OFF SWITCH ------ SDC/PSU.
    The reason.
couple minutes to the liquor store, the PC doesn't need to be on.

Any pics? Where did you get the switch?
I want to do the same thing but am having a hard time finding a switch that I can add to my dash area without it looking odd.

Go to dealer. Usually around steering column, there are couple "dummy" switches where you find coin holder, foglight, hazard, defrog, ... switches (left or right of steering wheel). Get a ON/OFF switch and pop the dummy out and push that new switch in.
