For everyone who was wondering whether or not this PSU would encounter the same issue as the opus with the biostar m7ncg 400, I can tell you that it has been working awesome on my system over the last 2 days. I have not changed anything yet on the DSATX just wired it up. I love the way that it works in comparison to the opus. The unmodified shutdown timing it ships with (20 minutes?) means that when I stop for gas or coffee I get in and turn the key and the computer is still running. with the opus it would have to boot back up again. It also only waits a second or so after iginition signal is sent(the opus was about 5 seconds I think) before kicking on so time to music is significantly shorter.
I have not had any time yet to modify the settings and will be building my new setup with the ideq over the weekend after I get it put together I will post a review thread.

I got the PSU, shot couple pix with the cell. Other than that, I didn't have time to disassemble my current system/instalation to install this PSU. Hopefully it works much much better than my custom Sproggy. Hey I am happy with the Sproggy, and this PSU should be much better cuz it was made/designed by a PRO.

It ships with a 20 minute variable timing set by P1, which defaults to the middle of the rotation, so it is more like a 10 minute default..Originally Posted by alti

ooh crud..i hit a snag. the psu is just a hair too big to fit within the case i'm usingi'm either gonna have to construct a case for the psu, or contruct a new case for the entire computer..

u said u were going to design a case for this psu/ how soon would that be/![]()
i was able to do a quick simple test with the psu yesterday, worked flawlessly.![]()

Jeff,
Just a short note to let you know that I received the power supply on Saturday and have done an initial install in the van. First impressions are very favourable. The quality of the board and component placement show that a lot of thought went into this board. I can find no fault inthis area whatsoever.
Hookup was staright forward. I ran 10 guage lines to Vcc, Gnd and am using a SPDT switch to control the ACC line……OFF, ACC Vin, and Batt Vin. This gives one some options in controlling the power supply.
Have not yet had an opportunity to interface via serial, but will be trying that later this week. Everything is working flawlessly at this point. The power supply barely gets warm running my configuration….I will get the probes out when I get a chance.
One option I would like to see implememted is the ability of the computer to go into standby mode and have the supply monitor battery state and shut down when a critical level is reached….I am sure this is doable with the microcontroller.
Your documentation, although fine for me, will have to be elaborated upon for all the non tech types out there.
You have developed a great power supply and I will keep you informed as I do more testing ……
Currently being powered by DSATX:
VIA SP13000
3.5” WD 80 Gig
DVD/CD RW
512 ram
2 case fans
7 USB devices (so far)
7” touchscreen

THen when the unit is on, it will turn on the relay. It will turn off when the computer turns off or before, depending on which mode you have set.

I have verified now that the DSATX works with both biostar motherboards. Overall my experience with it so far has been very good. There was one occasion where my computer did not survive a crank, but i was installing it today and had been using the battery extensivly without the car running. I spent most of the day today weeding through the onslaught of usb and com port problems, but it is now up and running correctly in the new system. Hopefully I will be able to post a thread with more detail tomorrow.
