    Hey Jeff,
Just hit paypal for the serial cable.
Maybe you have to update the beta site for the usage of the serial cable.

silly question.. can the psu be programmed while it's off using the serial cable?

i.e. can i configure the psu via my desktop pc in the house without without having to power up the new psu, before installing it in the carpc?

I would like to know if we can re-flash it over in the UK as things seem to go missing when we post em over so i would like to minimise the risk.

You can't program it with out power. You could use jumer leads and a 9 volt battery though.

If zoot is willing to post the latest code then yeah that make sense. Upload the code using the built in bootloader...via serial port of course. Easy to implement, small code.

well if the code can be protected then this would only make the design better in case of future upgrades.

I think its best if the code is not protected as this will encourage others to develop their own.

If hes really worried about others copying then just encrypt the published code. I doubt the code is all that complicated anyway, any competent PIC programmer can always make one from ground up.
