Invertor and CarPC pro shutdown controller issues, could use some help

Summary: Machine will not turn on automatically with shut down controller. Have to manually press the power button. Minutes later it goes into hibernation.

Quick inventory:
P4 machine, mini atx board, 200 watt power supply, husky invertor, CarPC Pro shut down controller (Not using temp probes) and tank circuit.

I have connected everything as per the instructions. I have ran all of the CarPC Pro settings back to default. When i turn on the vehicle, the invertor turns on as per my settings but the machine never turns on. If i walk to the back and hit the power switch, the unit will come on, but it turns itself off within minutes. Something is going funky.

Can anyone recommend settings to check? Any advice, any other answers I can offer?

I sent you a PM in reply to your email. I could not respond to your email for some reason your mail servers kept sending it back to me.

At 1st glance, it looks as though you may not have the Temp Sensors connected. They must be connected in the Pro and Platinum versions to work properly.

...and thats not it. OK, plugged them in and set them in the case. The machine blinks on for a split second and then turns off. The invertor powers up like normal.

I did notice that a relay is clicking every few seconds now where it was not before. The amp LED turns on and off each time. LEDs show the 1st 4 on solid, with the AMP wire turning on and off every few seconds.

That was it, this is something else causing a similar problem.

Are you sure it is the PC that is turning on for a split second (and it's not more like 10 seconds)?

If the PC turns on for 10 sec (with the config settings at default) and then turns back off for 10sec, and repeats, then do you have the white molex connector plugged in? If not, please do so and that should correct it.

Othewise, lets try unplugging the molex connector and let me know what is happening now. It should do the 10 sec on, 10sec off thing I described above.

Well, removing the 5v lead caused the 10 sec fluctuation. I plugged it in and now eveything seems to power up and down normally, however I am still getting the shifting of the amp turn on wire. Unsure what the original issue was...

I did notice after my last attempt that the invertor was running since my last message to you, with the vehicle off!! I reset the SDC to default settigs.

Ok, so there are still 2 issues then, correct?

1) You said the amp control line is still turning on and off. When does this occur, and does it ever go away? If the amp line keeps turning on and off, I expect that you would also notice other things happen. I suspect that this is likely caused by one of the 2 following conditions: a) The PC's +5v does not turn on quickly enough (this has never happened before, but it's possible) b) there is some sort of intermittant short or loose connection.

2) Once the inverter did not turn off. Has this happened more than once? Do you have the Shutdown to standby jumper on? The Shutdown to Standby jumper will cause the inverter to remain on so you can shutdown the PC to standby for quick boot ups. If you don't want this occuring, remove the jumper.

Always let me know what all the LEDs are doing, and what sequence of events led up to any issue or some unexpected behavior.

If you're not sure, wait until you see these things happen again and then answer the quesitons.

I want to make sure everything works as it should for you, so don't hesitate to ask us anything.

Kyfe, you're the man!

Everything is working now, well at 98%. The only issues im having are that at about ten minutes after starting the PC, the PC kicks into hibernation and then right back out. Its extremely fast in the cycle, but annoying none the less. Maybe a temp sensor setting? should i just disable temp sense?

Secondly, in the startup process, the amp turns on twice. Something like : Ign on, invertor on, amp on, pc LED solid, amp off, PC turns on, amp turns on. Afterwards the amp stays on.

Any ideas?

Im having a lot of fun figuring this out. Appreciate it!

If when the PC begins to kick into hibernation, if you can hop out real quick and check the LEDs to be sure what caused it... You are correct tho, the Temp sensors are most likely the cause of that. It could also be caused by the low voltage monitor. Once you figure out which one is causing it, we can adjust the corresponding config setting.

For the second matter, it sounds as if your PC isn't catching the 1st signal sent to turn it on. You can tell it was sent because the PC LED comes on. The amps turn back off when it attempts to turn on the PC again, to prevent amp thump. The thing to do is attempt changing the Config Setting #11 to it's maximum. Following is a walk-through to do that:
1) When everything is off and the PC LED is slowly blinking, press and hold the config button until it enters config mode (you can tell because most of the LEDs turn on)
2) Release the Config button, you are now at setting 0.
3) Press the Config button (no more than once a second) 11 times. The LEDs will be (from left - the dimmer one) On - Off - On - Off - Don't care - On - On
4) Once at that setting, Put on all 4 jumpers.
5) Press the Config button ONCE
6) Remove all jumpers
7) Press the config button until config mode is exited.
