    help poweing a 15" lcd

hi, im new to all this, but i see the standard is a 7 or 8 inch touch screen. to save money i figure i can just throw in a full sized pc monitor but im wondering how to go about powering it.

my first though was to just get an ac adapter (this kinda deal http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/electronic/7ab2/ ) but it seems like id be converting my cars 12v dc to ac, then right back to dc since a monitor really takes dc power.

it strikes me that there should be an easier way to do this, any clever ideas, or is this my best route?

I will bet money the 15" display uses 12 volt. If you computer PS can handle a couple extra amps on the 12V line just power it directly from that

Does the main power go straight into the back of the monitor or does it go to a big block and then on to the monitor. If the latter check to see what DC is going into the monitor, if 12V you're laughinh, if something higher then you will need to source a laptop adapter that will raise the 12V up a bit.

If the formar then (unless you want to rip it open and see where it drops the voltage down) you will need to use an inverter.
