I don't know if this can be done, but here goes:
I have an old UPS (Uninteruptable Power Supply) with a bad battery. Since a UPS sends DC to the battery, and then when power fails, converts the battery's DC into AC for whatever is plugged in, would it be possible to salvage the inverter out of here? I'm trying to make an MP3 box as cheaply as humanly possible, so if I could save a few of my pathetic dollars it would be wonderful.
Yes, it would be possible. However, some UPSs will not enable their inverters unless they have seen 120V (or 220V) at some point, so you will have to watch out for that.
i just brought a ups
1200va for 28 bux
it dosnt have a battery but im gonna see if i can make it work as a invertor
im picking it up tomorrow
so ill let ya know how i go
im sorta plaining to use it in my car or just put it in my room for fun
