Amp acc line = psu ignition wire?

Can I tap into the acc line going into my aftermarket amp (the line indicating whether the car is on or off) and use that for the ignition wire on my power supple (m1-atx)?

Accessory lines are different from ignition lines. From what I understand on most cars, accessory lines get cut while you attempt to start the car. If you wire your computer to the accessory line, it will try to start, get cut off while you start the car, and then start again.

It is a probably not. Some cars don't follow my comments (as I mentioned... most). Also most people don't even realize this happens. When you turn your car key, you only pass the accessory position for a short time. I don't think it's a good idea to send that pulse, cut-off then pulse over and over again though.

Okay...i see what your saying now...I have an 04 BMW...when I start my car, my radio doesn't cut out, it stays on (my old mustang used to cut out and it was annoying because my flip up screen would go back down and then back up)...but now, when i start my car, my screen stays up. Does that mean that my acc line doesn't get cut when i start my car?

Not necessarily. Your radio could be wired with a relay type setup where it runs with either ignition or accessory. Only way to tell for sure is to use a meter to test if there is still voltage being supplied to the accessory line as the car starts.

Also, I don't have a time machine, so I can't attest to any 2204 vehicles

This is true...sorry, one more dumb question: If the sound to my speakers doesnt get cut off when my car starts, then that probably means that the acc line going to them doesn't get cut either (which probably means that the audio installer guys wired the amp to the radio)...which means that it would be okay to run the psu to that wire????
