    My HD is an old 1gig, and You can sort of see the spikes, but it is easier with a analog multimeter, which I have but have not used, I like my digital better..
    so, It will work??

    If you dont believe what you hear here then go try it, burn it and then you will find the answer.
    As far as i can tell you dont know the answer but when some one who does tells you it you dont believe them.

    Would this do the trick? its a 386 laptop, i'd presume its the same **** different bucket.

    It may work. The only way to find out is to open the laptop and see if the DC-DC conveter is on a separate board to the motherboard. If it is seperate then you need to work out what voltages are on the output connector. Another thing to look at is the power consumption rating of the laptop. It will give you an idea of how much current it will be able to supply.

    Here are some pics of the DC-DC converter installed in the carputer.


    There is room for two ISA cards above the supply. The lighter plug has been installed while I test the player.

    I actually do know what I am talking about, and I have read lots of good electronics books, and, I thought the point in this message board was for people to ask questions...
