    Thumbs up

Im on this ride too! Maybe you can get a lot of people to change their inverters for a much better way to power their systems.
Im on this side of planet Earth, i hope USPS doesn´t double the costs of this project for me.

    Greetings

I'll jump in if the price stays under $100.

Right now I still use an AT motherboard but I'd buy it just to be ready for the day I change!

    Good work so far, Jeff!

OK, I think I have finished the layout for this project. I am going to do a layout verses schematic one more time before I order some boards. It won't be long till I have a working supply ready.

    I'll keep ya posted.

    Latest layout

Well I got my boards back today and I stuffed them up and I am very pleased with the results.

It supplies 12 volts at 2 amps (what it is rated at) no problem without any drop in the 12 volt line. I tested it up to 3 amps and it works just fine there too. I don't want to spec it higer than the part is rated however.

The 5 volt and 3.3 volt traces do just fine at 5 amps and also work just fine at 5.5 amps too... Will probably work at 6.5 amps too but I have a lousy setup for testing them at the moment..

The minus 12 and minus 5 will be spec'd at 50 mA instead of 100mA. I decided to go with a cheeper switched capacitor circuit instead of an inductor based one.

I'll be posting a complete review on my website when I get the time. But right now, would anyone be interested in a complete assembled supply for 90 bucks? They are really tiny. 3.8 by 2.5 by 1.2 inches.

    Hey Jeff,

As I said via email a few days ago, definitely want one for $90.

Just waiting for my MSI 6215 to arrive (Wednesday) so I can make sure it uses standard ATX plug, and if not, what it does use. (unless someone with an MSI 6215 can check for me)

I'll send you another email once I know.

Well guys, I got my first one working. Here are some pics. I tested all the systems. I am just about to test it on a motherboard and see if it works but I'm pretty sure it will. I tried it with some old hard drives to see what kind of current draw they have on startup. These are quick and dirty so just bear with me..

Here you can see that you can put a cpu heatsink and fan on it if your system has a high continuous draw or it is 100 degrees out all the time..

    Jeff,
Great Job, Are You Going To Be Making These To Sell Or Was This Only A Test Project. I May Be Interested In One If You Are Going To Make A Few.
