Does anyone have any input. Will 14 gauge wire be large enough for 15 amps to my opus.
I just bought a opus 150 watt power supply. I have 0 gauge wire running from my battery to my trunk. In the trunk there is about 4 feet from the distribution block to the opus. Will it be ok is I use high quality 14 gauge wire to connect the opus to the distribution block. Is it a short enought run. Becasue I bought a 15 amp blade fuse and holder and it can handle up to 40 amps and the wire gauge is only 14 gauge.
Thanks JCARERE

Check out this site for great info on wire size and aperage capability.http://www.windsun.com/Hardware/Wire_Table.htm
Its the 3rd table down. Good Luck
Opus recommend using a 12 awg fused wire straight from the battery. Read the manual.![]()
yes, reading the directions is a good idea, but then you're not a patient person are you?
Defenitely read the directions and run the rated wire to avoid the insulation from melting and starting a fire. I mean, how much is a few dollars spent for some lower gauge wire in comparison to paying for a new car? F that!! Go with rated sizes.

IS JACK BAUER GONNA HAVE TO SMACK A *****?
If you read what I said I already have 0 gauge running from my battery to my trunk. I have a fuse for the wire running out of the distribution block and to the opus which is less than 3 feet. I did read the manual just dont see a point in runnin a 12 gauge line from the battery if my current line can handle 300 amps. I only wanted to know if 14 gauge can handle the opus power supply for a run of 3 feet.

and my point was that if you had any idea what all that meant, the 0 guage wire, the 300 amps, all of it, you wouldn't be asking the question because you'd know why the opus requires 12 guage and it's own in line fuse.
